Epoisses

Tomorrow we leave our "French family". :(  (The family my mom lived with when she lived in France.)  The past three days began with a last minute trip to Versailles.  Because of lengthy lines, we opted to glide through the gardens of Versailles on bikes!

No wonder the Parisians didn't have any food, and started a revolution.  All the money that they needed was part of the King's front gate!

In front of the Grand Canal.  That's the palace in the background.

Walking back.

We then trucked on to Epoisses, where my mom spent a year after high school and acquired her knowledge of the French language.  We have eaten extremely well for the past two and a half days.

Mom's "French Dad" converted what was an old dilapidated structure into this magnificent house over the course of 4-5 years.

I had to earn dessert.  I enjoyed it.

Today, we went to the supposed place where the last Gaul chieftain, Vercinqgétorix, resisted Caesar, a pottery-maker's store, a medieval village, and a nearby dam.

The medieval village, Flavgny, where they make a famous French candy, anis.  A licorice seed is rolled in sugar for 15 days to make the candy.  Yum!

On top of the dam.

We are looking forward to the rest of our trip!
