Mountain Majesty

The day began early for me, as two of my siblings and I helped Grandma open the library.  After, we all piled into two cars and set off on a 4 hour adventure to Switzerland.  Part of the journey involved driving onto a train and being steamed through a tunnel in the mountains.

Our first sight of the Alps

On the car transport train

Into the darkness!

Would you like it in a car?  On a train?  In the dark?  (We forgot to bring Green Eggs and Ham!)

We drove up switch-back roads and down through lush green valleys, constantly in awe of marvelous snowy peaks.  When we finally arrived, we witnessed, first-hand, the ineffable splendor of the Alps.  Made by the European and African plates pushing on each other in the Mediterranean Sea in the south, the Alps have obstructed some famous conquering leaders of the past, such as Hannibal and his elephants and Hitler and his tanks (Switzerland was neutral through all of the WWII).  They are Switzerland's natural fortress.

A stop on the way up our mountain

wow.  Wow.  WOW.  WOW!  WOW!!!  WWWOOOWWW!!!

There's "Chalet Christoph" on the top of the "hill"

We can't complain about our view.

Just a coincidence :)

The Alps: wonderful, bright, and dangerous.  They are also a statement.  When you see even pictures of the Alps, do you think someone intelligent crafted their beauty and majesty or did this just happen to be a lucky bonus?  Or, are they not really there, because everything we perceive is, essentially, a wonderful dream?  Being here, at the foot of these rock monsters, I believe I have decided, why they are here.  And, why I am here.
